Called to Love and Serve
Welcome to Siem Reap, in the Kingdom of Cambodia. This website will give you more information about the Mission of the Catholic Church in Siem Reap, our Catholic Communities and Social Action Activities for the poor.
“Yahweh has sent me to bring the good news to the poor, to bind up hearts that are broken, to proclaim liberty to the captives, sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim a year of the favor from Yahweh” (Is 61:1-2)
The mission of Jesus is also the mission of the Catholic Church in Siem Reap and very relevant to us here in Cambodia, a country destroyed by over 2 decades of civil war. These wars have left wounds in the hearts of the Khmer people, causing the loss of trust and confidence, as well as widespread poverty and suffering.
We are here, united with all men of good will to help restore life, and to become witnesses that the force of love and life is stronger than the force of hatred and death. That God our heavenly Father loves everyone in spite of the sins, the wounds, the sufferings and the broken hearts. We are here to proclaim this good news essentially by our lives, by our attitudes, our activities, our services and love for the poor and disabled, and through our prayers.
By our presence and service, we want to give the people a possibility to experience the love of Jesus the Lord and Saviour of all mankind.
