Learning Centers for children
One of the priorities in our mission is to help the children and youth, who are very important to the future of the country. We give special attention to children and youths by setting up several learning centers in which we offer them several educational activities. The activities we offer include: Khmer dance practice, value education, basic hygenic education, English classes, Khmer literacy class, library and reading communities, and leadership training. At present we have seven learning centers, through which we reach out to more than one thousand children and youths.
We are small in number. Our service is tiny compared to the enormous problems and sufferings here in Cambodia. Yet with the cooperation of so many good-willed people we become God’s instrument to bring His healing love, His joy and His peace to the people of this beautiful country. Will you join us?
Your financial contribution can help us in many ways.
- A school uniform for one student costs $5 (USD). A student will need four uniforms per year.
- A scholarship for one high school student is $25 (USD) per month. This will cover their expenses for tuition, books, and transportation.
- The Rice Soup program provides a nutritious meal for 120 children and costs $20 (USD) to run each time. This program is provided in six learning centers in Siem Reap.
- A small boat to serve the floating village community costs $250 (USD). This boat will provide five children with transportation to school.
- The salary for a Catechist is $125 (USD) per month.
- The salary for an English/literacy teacher is $40 (USD) per month. The teaching is part-time (two hours per day).
